Week 17
Frans’ Flyers (25-23)
Oef, na een paar lastige weken weer eens 3-0. Eagles(-5), 49ers (-6) en dan nog Rams +2, die met één punt verloren. Ik vermoed dat er deze week winst is te halen bij teams die nergens meer voor spelen:
Pick 1 - Ravens @ Packers (+2.5) : Ik begrijp dat er twijfel is over welke QB er zal spelen voor beide teams. Maar het blijven de Packers die thuis spelen. Green Bay kan met een win zich praktisch verzekeren van een playoff spot, terwijl het voor de Ravens moeilijk zal worden, zelfs met een win. Dus winnen of nipt verliezen en we kunnen cashen!
Pick 2 - Bucs (-5.5) @ Dolphins : Zoals Dirk vorige week zei : bet tegen de rookie QB’s en spijtig genoeg tegen mijn favoriete team. Geen idee wat de Bucs allemaal uitgehaald hebben de vorige weken, maar met winst hebben ze 66% kans om in de playoffs te geraken, dus ze gaan willen winnen en liefst met wat marge.
Pick 3 - Seahawks (-7) @ Panthers : De Panthers verrassen ons en zichzelf denk ik. De Seahawks D zal het sprookje hier beeïndigen en de Panthers forceren om het uit te vechten in week 18 tegen de Bucs.

Dirk’s Dares (23-22)
Het wordt een race om boven .500 te blijven. In week 16 zat Dirk op een zucht van een 3-0, maar toen was daar die deksele lateral bij de Seahawks – Rams en weg was de 3-0. Nu, met 2-1 komen we op 23-22. All de backups en teams die de playoffs niet meer kunnen halen, maken het wel lastig. Kunnen we het seizoen in die lijn afsluiten?
Lions -7.5 @ Vikings De Lions hebben nog een waterkans op de playoffs, en de Vikings spelen met Max Brosmer. Er staat buiten een draft positie werkelijk niets meer op het spel voor de Vikings. Ook belangrijk: de playoff kansen van de Lions zijn nog gaaf op het moment van spelen, want de Packers spelen pas later op het weekend. Geen reden dus voor Goff en co om niet nog één keer voluit te gaan.
Texans +1.5 @ Chargers Een wedstrijd tussen 2 teams die nog veel op het spel hebben, zo zijn er niet veel deze laatste weken in de NFL. Het playoff plekje van de Texans is nog niet 100% gegarandeerd, maar er moet al veel gebeuren om dat niet te laten gebeuren. De Texans hebben één van de beste defenses van de NFL, en de oline van de Chargers staat op hun derde prothese. De enige motivatie van de Chargers zou kunnen zijn dat ze de Broncos nog kunnen inhalen voor de AFC West titel en als alles goed valt, ook nog de 1st place overall. Maar we zien dus de Texans defense deze wedstrijden domineren.
Saints -2.5 @ Titans: Is dit een tankbowl? Helemaal niet, dat is de Giants en Raiders wedstrijd van dit weekend. Deze 2 teams zijn stiekem goed bezig, en willen dus nog steeds laten zien wat ze volgend seizoen waard gaan zijn. Maar de Saints zijn stiekem aan een heater bezig, geleid door 3 mensen: coach Kellen Moore, de oude rookie Tyler Shough, en onze eigen Europese kicker Charlie Smyth. De Titans wonnen vorige week van de lamme Chiefs, en daardoor is deze spread slechts 2,5 punten. Dus wij nemen de Saints in deze wedstrijd!

ENGLISH VERSION
Frans’ Flyers (25-23)
Phew, after a few tough weeks, back to a 3-0. Eagles (-5), 49ers (-6), and finally Rams +2, who lost by just one point. I suspect there is value to be found this week with teams that have nothing left to play for:
Pick 1 - Ravens @ Packers (+2.5): I understand there is uncertainty regarding which QB will start for either team. But at the end of the day, it’s the Packers playing at home. With a win, Green Bay can practically secure a playoff spot, while it will be difficult for the Ravens even if they win. So, a straight win or a narrow loss and we cash!
Pick 2 - Bucs (-5.5) @ Dolphins: As Dirk said last week: bet against rookie QBs and, unfortunately, against my favorite team. I have no idea what the Bucs have been up to the last few weeks, but with a win, they have a 66% chance of making the playoffs. They’ll want to win, and preferably with some margin.
Pick 3 - Seahawks (-7) @ Panthers: The Panthers are surprising everyone, including themselves, I think. The Seahawks’ defense will end the fairy tale here and force the Panthers to fight it out in Week 18 against the Bucs.

Dirk’s Dares (23-22)
It’s becoming a race to stay above .500. In Week 16, Dirk was a whisker away from a 3-0, but then came that pesky lateral in the Seahawks – Rams game, and the 3-0 was gone. Still, a 2-1 brings us to 23-22. All the backups and teams that are already eliminated from the playoffs make things tricky. Can we close out the season in this form?
Lions -7.5 @ Vikings: The Lions still have a slim chance at the playoffs, and the Vikings are playing with Max Brosmer. Other than draft positioning, there is truly nothing left at stake for the Vikings. Also important: the Lions’ playoff hopes are still intact at the time of kickoff, as the Packers don’t play until later in the weekend. No reason for Goff and co. not to go all out one more time.
Texans +1.5 @ Chargers: A matchup between two teams that both have a lot on the line—there aren’t many of those in these final NFL weeks. The Texans’ playoff spot isn’t 100% guaranteed yet, though a lot would have to go wrong for them to miss out. The Texans have one of the best defenses in the NFL, and the Chargers’ O-line is down to its third-stringers. The only motivation for the Chargers is that they could still overtake the Broncos for the AFC West title and, if everything falls into place, even the #1 overall seed. However, we see the Texans’ defense dominating this game.
Saints -2.5 @ Titans: Is this a tank bowl? Not at all; that’s the Giants vs. Raiders game this weekend. These two teams have been playing well under the radar and want to show what they’ll be worth next season. But the Saints are quietly on a heater, led by three people: coach Kellen Moore, the “old” rookie Tyler Shough, and our very own European kicker Charlie Smyth. The Titans won against a hobbled Chiefs team last week, which is why this spread is only 2.5 points. We’re taking the Saints!
